Julie Carey, Head Chef at the Glen yr Afon House Hotel

Julie has been a chef for twenty seven years of which she has spent twenty three at the Glen yr Afon. She originally trained as a chef at Nash College in Newport although she feels that she has been constantly learning throughout her career.

From a young age Julie was always helping her Mother in the kitchen with her baking. From then on she was passionate about cooking. She enjoys being able to create exciting new dishes on a daily basis from ingredients that she may not have considered pairing together and loves getting surprising results.

She believes in serving good honest food with attention to detail. Using the finest ingredients sourced from in and around the county of Monmouthshire and its borders.
